Anne Bowser

Anne works in the Science and Technology Innovation Program (STIP) at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a think tank in Washington, DC. At the Wilson Center Anne co-directs the Commons Lab, which takes as its mission mobilizing public participation and innovation in science, technology, and policy. As two related forms of open innovation, citizen science and making both involve the public in (sometimes) close and (traditionally) expert-based systems. Anne believes that by working together, citizen scientists and makers can amplify the voices of public stakeholders while creating a more interesting and scientifically literate world.
Outside of the Wilson Center Anne is a Research Affiliate with SciStarter, where she is working on developing metadata tags for describing key aspects of citizen science, including the new SciStarter tools database. She also supports the Citizen Science Association (CSA) by sitting on the Board of Directors, and by chairing a data and metadata standardization working group.
